How to use the CPU Control in the ROM Toolbox Pro.

Hello,

I have Rom ToolBox Pro installed on my Rooted Motorola Droid Razr phone, in which I'm running the LiquidSmooth Custom ROM v2.9. I would like to get better than stock performance out of this rom, along with better battery performance than the stock rom also. This is why I purchased Rom Toolbox Pro. So far this application has been really great, but my only complaint is that there isn't any documentation on how to use most of the tools in the software.

What I would like to know is HOW to use the CPU control applet within RTBP.

How is the Govenor used, along with how to setup CPU Profiles. Even a set of screen captures of recommended settings or screen captures of what others have used with some success.

Is there any chance at getting some help with configuring the CPU Control settings, or getting some documentation on this utility in the Jrummy ToolBox Pro.

Cheers,

-Stone.

Hey Stone,

Thank you for contacting us. The hard part about answering this question is it not only depends on your device it also depends on your ROM, and how you use your device (playing games vs internet). For this reason, we do not recommend any settings. We will assist you by letting you know what the settings are changing but you will have to play around until you find the best settings for you.

I believe this is what you are after?

Grady,

Thank you for the quick reply.  That's basically what I am looking for.  I have no idea what these settings do.  Normally I play no games but I do use GPS apps, Chrome, Google maps, gmail, etc...  I hope this helps you understand how I use my device.

Grady,

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. For the novice to intermediate skilled user of the CPU Control utility in the Rom Toolbox Pro. What do each of the settings do? Are there some that you should not use with other settings such as in the profile settings? Are there any known setting "gotchas" that will cause your phone to run like crap? On the other hand are there any settings or profile configurations that seem to work well for most folks? I'm just looking for something that says, This is the CPU "noop" setting and it does "blah", and this is the "onDemand" setting and it's intended use is for "blah", and if you use the "performance" setting make sure you you set the min and max values to "xxx" and "zzz" ...

That type of documentation is what I'm seeking, and I'm sure there are others who would love to have this also. If you take the time to write this, I know you will get more users using Toolbox Pro, because you will be the only one who has documentation that explains everything, thus, more people will not be afraid to use it.
Please consider it Grady, it will be the be the best thing you could do for your user community.
Cheers,
-Stone

Hi. I have an sgs3 t-999. I'm rooted w stock 4.1.2. I've used ktoonsez kwrnel/ profiles for ktweaker and find them great at saving batt power, but there is no true performance setting. I wouldn't ask you to support their work, but I was wondering if I could create profiles in the tool box based on the triggers you have; ie: charging, battery over a %, etc. I'm not asking you to test individual devices exhaustively, but for more for a rough template to start with. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Been using toolbox for a long time. Keep up the great work.

I think this thread of discussion never came to an absolute point of resolution, honestly what OP was asking wasn't anything unreasonable. The cpu control is a great utility but still has yet to get a proper general description of what io scheduler does what, what governor does what and how, and how profile states and priorities work as well. This really needs to be addressed, since many of us are probably lost in the woods when it comes to some of these features. Please help, Jrummy Apps.

So let's see.… .we pay for the tool box pro version. But we wait for how to use it becomes public.?..seriously? I purchesed this pro version a few years ago. Still I can't use it properly. It really pisses me off. How do you properly use the cpu profiles? I adjust them but they don't work properly. And let's make the answer public… .I've been tryimg to teach myself how to do it long enough. Maybe it's part of your ' big this comimg this year '…
